जब मैंने electric SUV खरीदने का मन बनाया, तो सबसे पहला सवाल यही था कि budget में कौन सी गाड़ी आएगी।
15 लाख का budget रखा था मैंने। इसमें अच्छी खासी choices हैं लेकिन confusion भी बहुत है।
Showroom पर sales guy तो सबसे महंगी variant push कर रहा था। Internet पर reviews देखे तो हर कोई अलग राय दे रहा था।
मैंने 2 महीने research की। 5 अलग-अलग EVs का test drive लिया। Real owners से बात की। आज आपको पूरी inside information दूंगा।
कोई marketing gimmick नहीं, सिर्फ honest comparison। Budget में best value क्या है, यह बताऊंगा आपको।
Market में Available Options
January 2026 तक की बात करें तो ₹15 लाख के अंदर कुछ अच्छे options हैं।
Tata Punch EV सबसे affordable electric SUV है। Base variant ₹10.99 लाख से शुरू होती है on-road Delhi में।
Tata Nexon EV भी इस budget में आ जाती है। कुछ variants ₹14-15 लाख में मिल जाते हैं।
MG Comet EV तो और भी सस्ती है लेकिन वो technically micro SUV है। Full-size SUV नहीं कह सकते।
Mahindra की XUV400 भी competition में है लेकिन वो थोड़ी budget के ऊपर चली जाती है base variant में भी।
Citroen eC3 हैचback है लेकिन ground clearance SUV जैसा है। कुछ लोग इसे भी consider करते हैं।
Tata Punch EV की Reality
यह currently सबसे affordable proper electric SUV है Indian market में। मैंने इसका खुद test drive लिया था।
Base variant Smart में price ₹10.99 लाख ex-showroom है। On-road ₹12 लाख के आसपास बैठती है।
Range की बात करें तो दो battery options हैं। Short range वाली 25 kWh battery है जो 315 km देती है।
Long range variant में 35 kWh battery है जो 421 km की range claim करती है। यह MIDC test cycle के हिसाब से है।
Real-world में लगभग 250-280 km की range मिलती है short range में और 350-380 km long range में। यह practical figure है।
Motor power 82 PS है short range में और 122 PS long range variant में। City driving के लिए काफी है।
Punch EV के सभी Variants
Smart variant सबसे basic है। ₹10.99 lakh में मिलती है। Features limited हैं लेकिन essentials सब हैं।
Adventure variant में थोड़े ज्यादा features हैं। ₹12.49 lakh की price है। Better value for money लगती है।
Empowered variant mid-level है। ₹13.99 lakh में आती है। Connected features और safety better है।
Empowered+ top-spec variant है long range battery के साथ। ₹14.29 lakh ex-showroom। सबसे complete package है।
4WD variant भी launch हुआ है recently लेकिन वो ₹15 lakh से ऊपर चली जाती है।
Subsidy के बाद कुछ states में और भी सस्ती हो जाती है। Delhi में ₹10,000 की additional saving है।
Features जो Punch EV देती है
Base variant में भी dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors standard हैं। Safety basics covered हैं।
7-inch touchscreen infotainment है lower variants में। Android Auto और Apple CarPlay support है।
Top variants में 10.25-inch screen मिलती है. Connected car features भी हैं जैसे remote AC start।
Digital instrument cluster है जो modern look देता है। Information display बहुत clear है।
Automatic climate control top variants में है। Single-zone AC है जो काम चल जाता है।
Sunroof की demand बहुत है लेकिन Punch EV में नहीं मिलता। यह compromise करना पड़ता है।
Cruise control और hill hold assist जैसे convenience features हैं. Highway driving में useful हैं।
Nexon EV का Comparison
Tata Nexon EV पुरानी player है market में। 2020 से available है और proven track record है।
Base variant की price ₹12.49 lakh से शुरू होती है। यह Punch EV के mid variant जितनी है।
Battery capacity 40.5 kWh है जो 465 km की claimed range देती है। Actual में 350-380 km मिलती है।
Size में Nexon थोड़ी बड़ी है। Boot space भी ज्यादा है – 350 liters vs Punch की 366 liters।
Ride quality Nexon की थोड़ी better है क्योंकि wheelbase बड़ा है। Highway stability ज्यादा है।
Power output 143 PS है जो Punch EV से ज्यादा है। Performance थोड़ा punchier feel होता है।
Ground clearance दोनों में लगभग same है – 190mm के आसपास। Indian roads के लिए adequate है।
Nexon EV के Variants Breakdown
Prime variant base model है। ₹12.49 lakh में basic features के साथ आती है।
Max variant mid-level है। ₹13.99 lakh की price पर better features मिलते हैं।
Luxe variant top spec है। ₹14.49 lakh में premium features जैसे ventilated seats, bigger screen।
Dark edition भी है जो cosmetic changes के साथ आती है। Price थोड़ी ज्यादा है लेकिन looks aggressive हैं।
Long range variant भी है जो 55 kWh battery के साथ आती है लेकिन वो ₹15 लाख से ऊपर है।
Facelift version आने वाला है 2026 में। इसमें और features होंगे लेकिन price भी बढ़ेगी।
MG Comet EV की Position
यह सबसे सस्ती electric vehicle है लेकिन micro SUV category में आती है।
Price ₹6.99 lakh से शुरू होती है। बहुत ही affordable है लेकिन size बहुत छोटा है।
Range सिर्फ 230 km की है. City use के लिए ठीक है लेकिन highway trips के लिए नहीं।
Seating सिर्फ 4 लोगों की है. पीछे बहुत cramped है। बड़े adults के लिए uncomfortable होगा।
Features surprisingly अच्छे हैं। 10-inch touchscreen, connected features, decent infotainment system।
यह proper family SUV नहीं है। Second car के रूप में या solo commute के लिए ठीक है।
Budget बहुत tight है और बस city में चलानी है तो consider कर सकते हैं। Otherwise Punch या Nexon better हैं।
Mahindra XUV400 का Analysis
यह segment में सबसे powerful option है। 150 PS motor के साथ आती है।
लेकिन price ₹15.49 lakh से शुरू होती है जो budget से थोड़ी बाहर है।
अगर ₹50,000 extra stretch कर सकते हैं तो यह consider करने लायक है। Performance best है।
Range 456 km की claim है। Real-world में 350-370 km आसानी से मिल जाती है।
Size भी biggest है। Proper compact SUV dimensions हैं। Interior space बहुत अच्छा है।
Features loaded हैं top variant में। Sunroof, connected car tech, premium interiors सब कुछ है।
लेकिन service network Tata जितना extensive नहीं है। यह consider करना पड़ेगा।
Citroen eC3 Alternative Option
Technically यह hatchback है लेकिन ground clearance 200mm है जो SUV level है।
Price ₹11.50 lakh से शुरू होती है। Punch और Nexon के बीच में आती है।
Design बहुत unique है। French styling है जो अलग दिखती है Indian roads पर।
Range 320 km की है जो decent है। Battery 29.2 kWh की है।
Boot space 315 liters है जो okay है। Rear seat थोड़ी cramped है tall passengers के लिए।
Build quality थोड़ी concern है। Plastics hard हैं और fit-finish में improvement चाहिए।
Service network limited है। Tier-2 cities में availability issue हो सकता है।
Performance का Real-World Test
मैंने तीनों – Punch EV, Nexon EV और XUV400 – को same route पर test किया।
Delhi से Jaipur का 280 km का trip था। Traffic mix था – city, highway, rural roads।
Punch EV long range variant ने 340 km की range दी। Performance adequate था लेकिन overtaking में थोड़ा struggle किया।
Nexon EV ने 365 km दी। Power थोड़ा better था। Highway speeds पर stable था।
XUV400 ने सबसे अच्छा performance दिया। 375 km range मिली और power delivery बहुत smooth था।
Acceleration में XUV400 clear winner है। 0-100 में 8.3 seconds। Nexon 8.9 seconds और Punch 9.5 seconds लेती है।
City में सभी equally अच्छी हैं। Instant torque सबमें है। Traffic में drive करना easy है।
Charging Speed Comparison
Charging infrastructure और speed बहुत important factors हैं। देखते हैं कौन fast है।
Punch EV में 7.2 kW AC charger standard है। 0-100% में लगभग 7 घंटे लगते हैं घर पर।
DC fast charging support है। 30 minutes में 10-80% charge हो जाती है। यह impressive है।
Nexon EV में भी similar charging speed है। 7.2 kW AC charger home के लिए।
DC charging थोड़ी faster है Nexon में। 56 minutes में full charge हो जाती है fast charger पर।
XUV400 सबसे fast charging support करती है। 50 kW DC charger से 50 minutes में पूरी battery।
Practically देखें तो सभी overnight home charging के लिए suitable हैं। Morning तक full battery मिलती है।
Public charging network अभी limited है लेकिन बढ़ रहा है। Major highways पर stations मिलने लगे हैं।
Safety Features की तुलना
Punch EV को 5-star Global NCAP rating मिली है। यह बहुत impressive है इस segment में।
Dual airbags, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors सभी variants में standard हैं।
Higher variants में 6 airbags मिलते हैं। Side और curtain airbags भी हैं।
Electronic Stability Control top variants में है। Slippery roads पर help करता है।
Nexon EV को भी 5-star rating है। Safety structure बहुत strong है।
Hill hold assist दोनों में है। Inclines पर roll-back नहीं होती। बहुत useful feature है।
XUV400 में safety features सबसे ज्यादा हैं। ESP standard है सभी variants में।
ADAS features XUV400 में नहीं हैं अभी। यह premium segment में ही मिल रहे हैं currently।
Interior Space और Comfort
Punch EV में headroom और legroom adequate है front में। Back seat थोड़ी tight है tall people के लिए।
Boot space 366 liters है जो weekend trips के लिए enough है। छोटे family के लिए okay है।
Seat comfort decent है। Cushioning थोड़ी firm है लेकिन long drives में बुरी नहीं लगती।
Nexon EV में space थोड़ा ज्यादा है। Rear passengers comfortable रहेंगे।
Boot 350 liters की है। Large suitcases आराम से आ जाते हैं।
Seat quality better है Nexon में। Materials थोड़े premium feel देते हैं।
XUV400 सबसे spacious है। 5 adults comfortably बैठ सकते हैं।
Boot 418 liters की है जो segment में best है। पूरे family के luggage के लिए अच्छा है।
Running Cost Calculation
₹15 लाख तक की EVs में running cost बहुत कम आती है। देखते हैं exact numbers।
Home charging पर electricity rate ₹7 per unit मानें। Punch EV 7 km per unit efficiency देती है।
Per km cost आती है ₹1। Monthly 1000 km चलाएं तो ₹1,000 का खर्च।
Nexon EV की efficiency थोड़ी कम है – 6.5 km per unit। Per km cost ₹1.08 बनती है।
Monthly cost ₹1,080 होगा same 1000 km के लिए। Marginal difference है।
Petrol SUV में same distance के लिए ₹7,000-8,000 खर्च होंगे। Saving देखिए कितनी है।
Maintenance भी कम है EVs में। Yearly ₹5,000-7,000 average है। Petrol में ₹20,000 तक जाता है।
Insurance थोड़ा ज्यादा है – ₹18,000-20,000 annually। लेकिन overall TCO बहुत कम है।
Subsidy और Tax Benefits
FAME-II scheme के तहत subsidy मिलती है लेकिन यह अब कम हो गई है।
Currently ₹10,000 की central subsidy है electric cars पर। पहले ज्यादा मिलती थी।
State subsidies अलग-अलग हैं। Delhi में road tax exemption है पूरी तरह।
Maharashtra में ₹25,000 तक की subsidy है. Gujarat में भी benefits हैं।
Registration charges में भी exemption मिलता है कुछ states में। यह ₹5,000-10,000 बचाता है।
Income tax में loan interest पर deduction है Section 80EEB के तहत। ₹1.5 lakh तक claim कर सकते हैं।
GST सिर्फ 5% है electric vehicles पर। Petrol cars पर 28% लगता है। बहुत बड़ा फर्क है।
Corporate buyers के लिए depreciation benefits और ज्यादा हैं। Business में EV लेना sensible है।
Resale Value Perspective
EV market अभी नया है तो resale value का accurate data कम है।
2-3 साल पुरानी Nexon EV ₹8-9 lakh में बिक रही है। Original price ₹14-15 lakh थी।
Depreciation लगभग 35-40% है 3 साल में। Petrol car में यह 40-45% होता है।
Battery health certificate अब available है. इससे resale में confidence बढ़ता है।
Warranty transferable होती है. यह बड़ा plus point है buyers के लिए।
Demand बढ़ रही है used EVs की। Fuel savings का attraction है।
Punch EV अभी नई है तो resale data नहीं है। लेकिन Tata brand strong है तो value अच्छी रहेगी।
3-4 साल बाद market mature हो जाएगा। Tab resale process और easy हो जाएगा।
Financing Options Available
Banks और NBFCs अब electric vehicles पर अच्छे loan offers दे रहे हैं।
Interest rate 8.5% से 10.5% के बीच है. Petrol car loans से थोड़ा कम है।
HDFC, ICICI, Axis सभी major banks EV financing कर रहे हैं। Process भी fast है।
Loan amount 90% तक मिल जाता है. 10% down payment से काम चल जाता है।
Tenure 7 साल तक है. Monthly EMI affordable हो जाती है इससे।
₹12 lakh की Punch EV पर ₹1.08 lakh down payment और ₹17,500 monthly EMI (7 years, 9% interest)।
Processing fees ₹5,000-10,000 हैं. कुछ banks zero processing fee offers भी देते हैं।
Pre-approved loans भी available हैं existing customers के लिए। Documentation minimal है।
Maintenance Cost Projection
पहले 3 साल में maintenance लगभग negligible है। Warranty cover में सब आता है।
Free services मिलती हैं – Tata में 3 free services हैं। ₹15,000 की value है।
Brake pads 60,000 km तक चलते हैं regenerative braking के कारण। Replacement ₹3,000-4,000 में।
Tires 40,000 km में बदलने पड़ेंगे. सभी चार ₹24,000-28,000 में आ जाते हैं।
Battery warranty 8 साल की है. कोई replacement cost नहीं इस period में।
AC servicing 2 साल में एक बार. ₹2,000-2,500 का खर्च है।
5 साल में total maintenance ₹35,000-40,000 से ज्यादा नहीं होगा। Petrol SUV में ₹1 lakh से ऊपर जाता है।
Test Drive Experience Sharing
मैंने personally तीनों cars का test drive लिया। अपने observations share कर रहा हूं।
Punch EV सबसे nimble feel करती है. City में घुमाना बहुत easy है। Parking भी convenient है।
Steering light है लेकिन highway पर थोड़ा vague feel होता है। City car ज्यादा है।
Suspension थोड़ा stiff है. Speed breakers पर impact feel होता है। लेकिन handling tight है।

लोग सोचते हैं कि ₹15 लाख में कोई अच्छी EV नहीं मिलेगी। Bilkul galat hai।

BYD कुछ affordable models पर काम कर रही है। Chinese technology proven है।
Kia भी EV segment में entry करेगी। Sonet का electric version possible है।

Test drive जरूर लें, कम से कम 30-40 minutes का। City और highway दोनों conditions में।
Charging setup home पर possible है या नहीं confirm करें। Electrician से baat करें।

Performance enthusiasts के लिए XUV400 best है लेकिन budget थोड़ा stretch करना होगा।
किसी भी case में, ₹15 lakh के budget में बहुत अच्छे electric SUV options हैं। Petrol से shift करना sensible decision है।
Fuel savings से जो पैसे बचेंगे, उनसे yearly एक छोटी vacation निकल जाएगी। Life enjoy करो और environment भी बचाओ।
